Located in picturesque historic downtown Rutland Vermont, United Way of Rutland County (UWRC) unites residents and community resources to facilitate lasting positive change based on prevailing community needs in the areas of finance, education, and healthcare. UWRC serves youth, families, and community-based organizations.

Rutland offers a plethora of outdoor activities, including skiing, hiking, and biking, and exploring the Appalachian and Long Trails! In 2023 UWRC funded the following local agencies: Come Alive Outside, Farmacy Project, Boys & Girls Club of Rutland County, Reinbow Riding Center, Imagination Library, Rutland County Free Clinic, Fair Haven Concerned, Vermont Catholic Charities, ARC of Rutland County, One 2 One Transportation Program, VNA & Hospice, New Story Center, Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging, Slate Valley Vermont and The Compassionate Friends, Turning Point, Dismas Women's House, and VT Cares.

UWRC collaborates with local schools to fund two health and education programs, Snack Sack and Happy Feet. Snack Sack began in 2018 to provide underserved, school-aged children in the Fair Haven school district with nutritious after-school snacks during the week and through extended breaks and holidays. Learning the district did not fall within Vermont's Community Eligibility Program, which provides free meals to students in need, the Home School Coordinator partnered with UWRC to provide food to over 176 children and their extended families on a weekly basis!

Warm, dry, well-fitting footwear is an essential component of a child's growth, education, and social interaction. Teachers, counselors, and home school coordinators identify underserved, school-aged children throughout the county that need sneakers and/or winter boots. UWRC partners with locally owned and operated businesses to provide the much-needed footwear that allows recipients to fully participate in school activities throughout the year. Member Duties : This position will attend community stakeholder meetings and play an active role in achieving UWRC goals. Currently, UWRC services 20+ non-profits by funding programs that address three priorities of focus:

Health, Education, and Financial Stability for residents of Rutland County.

This partnership fosters community empowerment and allows UWRC an active role in being a contributing solution to fighting poverty and its symptoms. UWRC's annual fundraising campaign sustains its giving capacity and ultimately creates a healthier Rutland County.

The VISTA position will assist in marketing Community and Targeted Impact programs and communicating program results to investors and donors with the goal of increasing campaign revenues to 300K in 2025. The VISTA position will develop and implement a board training series for non-profit boards and persons interested in serving on a board, with the goal of strengthening Rutland County nonprofit leadership.
