ACCOUNTABILITY:

• The Unit Secretary is accountable to the Director of Nursing, Nurse Management team, and Nurse Supervisors . The Unit Secretary works closely with the Health Information. (Monday

• Friday) Hours discussed at time of interview.

Department to ensure complete and accurate resident records .

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Share in the commitment to following The Better Way promises and promote our motto, Care is Our Business, while following the guidelines and practices set in the employee handbook.

• Greet residents and visitors on the nursing unit and assist with questions, needs, and requests.

• Monitor flow of residents and visitors on the unit.

• Answer phones.

• Assist medical staff with requests for information.

• Assist facility staff with requests for information.

• Input orders into the electronic record.

• Scan documents into the electronic record.

• Schedule and coordinate resident appointments. Communicate appointments with the nursing unit, transportation and resident representatives.

• Ready and escort residents to appointments when assigned.

• Assist with the admission process. Input of orders into the electronic record. Input resident pictures into the electronic record. Complete and organize admission records for scanning and order input.

• Assist with the completion and organization of resident room identification and the resident data notebook.

• Complete assigned CNA duties on the nursing unit. Must be a Certified Nurse Assistant in good standing with the Tennessee Department of Health and within the facilities hiring practices.

• Follow and maintain facility policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Medical Record/ Health Information experience a plus

• Must have Computer Experience

• Medical Terminology Knowledge

• Must have valid CNA license

• Must be dedicated to customer service and meeting the needs of the residents

• Must be organized and thorough with completion of assigned duties and projects.
