Will provide compassionate personal care and support services under the supervision of a registered nurse. Order supplies and assure delivery of supplies for the department and at the bedside thereby assisting in attaining physical and emotional comfort and healing. Under the supervision of the RN assist in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the activities occurring in the nursing station by performing clerical, receptionist duties, stocking, cleaning of equipment and maintaining the physical environment of the desk area and unit.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides for the care of the infants by assuring the following are completed as assigned by the RN/TL/NM to include but not limited to:
Maintains and cleans all Omni Care beds, cribs, and other equipment maintained in the NICU, according to manufacturer's guidelines.
Orders and maintains all supplies needed from Cardinal to include, all formula, donor milk, human milk fortifier, Prolacta, extra beds, monitors supplies and during high census and assures PAR supplies are adequate, and any other infant supply needs identified.
Assist in maintaining adequate staffing utilizing API
Stocks infant cribs, Omni beds with items needed for care of the infant as defined by the RN.
Keeps accurate records of equipment, to include beds, IV pumps and any other equipment requested by the TL/NM
Downloads all Hearing Screens to the state weekly
Separates Newborn screen records WBN and NICU sends WBN screens to appropriate NM and completes follow-up with NICU Newborn screening results and sends to the TL/NM
Maintains the flow of visitation in the unit by the checking of ID bands prior to entering the unit, and supports the washing of hands by visitors per unit guidelines.
.Coordinates nursing unit functions to provide for smooth operation off all nursing/patient care activities.
Correctly and accurately assembles, maintains and disassembles patient medical record.
Demonstrates working knowledge of order entry process and transcription of physician orders and downtime procedures
Maintains well organized, well-supplied, clean nursing unit.
Answers telephone and intercom, takes messages, and communicates messages to the appropriate
person, using appropriate telephone etiquette.
measures, and supporting/implementing changes necessary for improvement.
Maintains statistics/logs as required by the unit Manager/Director.
Performs initial and annual competency as defined yearly or when updates are required.
Responsible for observation of cardiac monitors, notifying staff of alarms/ changes in cardiac
rhythm, 02 saturation changes or when patients are off monitor.
Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Computer and/or computer software knowledge or experience. Approved previous experience in clerical functions or completion of in-service education classes, high school education or equivalent.

Physical presence onsite is essential. Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected within normal range. Able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation. . Must have ability to tolerate prolonged periods of standing and walking. Must have ability to move about at the nurses station and to walk short distances. Ability to reach reasonable distances in any direction. Must be able to move fingers in a coordinated manner. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
