Job Description:

Responsible for providing clerical support for all employees within an assigned nursing unit. Maintains and updates patients' records for a given unit.

Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. High school diploma with 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

Assist patients with activities of daily living, assist the nursing staff with job duties as permitted and maintain a safe and clean environment under the directions and supervision of a registered nurse and/or licensed practical nurse High school graduate or G.E.D. required Computer skills required; typing skills helpful; completion of Medical terminology course preferred. Clerical accuracy, public relations aptitude, communication skills, manual and finger dexterity. Nursing Assistant course required after hire (if not previously completed) (Nursing Assistant course not required for employees enrolled in an RN or LPN nursing program) Prior nursing assistant experience preferred. Ability to follow orders and perform within functional limitations of job. Communication skills, listening abilities, ability to deal with stress, able to react to emergency and crisis situations, committed to quality of care.
