Salary: $39,116 - $64,096 Annually (Dependent on Qualifications)

ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non rotating 40 hour work week, Monday

  • Friday, 8:00 am

  • 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities

Create content for communication initiatives for the City including high profile issues, communication/marketing plans, advertising placement, emergency management and employee communications, including highly visible public campaigns and education initiatives. Daily submission of content for editorial calendar.

Work with media in a positive, cooperative environment with various organizations. Answer calls and questions, schedule interviews and coaches City representatives. Participate in media interviews by assisting and providing positive feedback.

Provide media analysis of reporting and story tone. Develop, plan and implement public meetings for departments for a variety of reasons to promote citizen engagement. Participate and provide content for editorial calendar across communication channels including web, social media, print and video.

Proactively prepare content for newspapers, brochures, communication plans, etc. Cooperatively works across all levels of organization in helping departments prepare and release information for residents, businesses and visitors. Provide excellent customer service to departments, media and vendors while representing the department/City. May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Position requires a Bachelor's Degree with minimum of two (2) years of related experience. A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.

Closing Statement

Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.

Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.

In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the general public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

This position is classified as "Safety Sensitive". All employees in safety sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing, pursuant to City policy, HR 15.0 Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
