Unit Manager

Position Description

Manages a unit within a department. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the unit. Represents the unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.

Preferred Qualifications

• AHIP certification preferred but not required.
• Demonstrable computer skills, including the ability to teach others computer skills.
• Demonstrable teaching skills. Primo VE Administration Certification preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of library purchasing practices.
• Ability to use PC systems.
• Master's degree in Library/Information Sciences from an ALA-accredited institution.
• At least one year of experience working full-time in a health sciences library environment, and one year of experience working in an academic library systems department.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus three years supervisory experience; OR
• a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal seven years.
