This position is housed at the Wilmington VR/IL Unit Office in Wilmington, NC and supervises a staff of 35 and oversees the Independent Living Section and Satellite office in New Hanover, Brunswick, and Pender Counties. This Unit Manager is to ensure that quality Vocational Rehabilitation services are provided to persons with disabilities residing in New Hanover, Brunswick, and Pender Counties in Eastern Region.

The primary purpose of the Unit Manager position is to provide leadership to meet agency mission and goals within the context of its stated values. Provides administrative, clinical, and case management supervision including training and technical assistance, personnel administration, and evaluation and planning. Designs and implements action plans to develop personnel and programs. Works cooperatively with three third-party school programs, multiple community rehabilitation programs, community partners and agencies, businesses, and the Division of WorkForce Solutions. Coordinates a vast array of specialized services from a diverse group of service providers and incorporates those resources into the service delivery functions of the Unit's work. Ensures that all aspects of the Unit's work are in compliance with federal regulations, state laws, and DHHS and EIPD policies.

  • Knowledge of organizing and directing the delivery of Vocational Rehabilitation services.
  • Knowledge of administrative management principles within Vocational Rehabilitation services. 
  • Knowledge of casework policy and service delivery.

Masters degree in rehabilitation counseling, counseling, or a closely related human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience as an independent counselor to include one year of supervisory experience;

OR

Current certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) and four years of experience as an independent counselor to include one year of supervisory experience;

OR
