Overview

Provide leadership to direct care staff through effective communication, organization and planning of the daily operations of the program/unit.

Responsibilities
1.Provide structure and supervision of the daily operations of the program/unit to ensure successful coordination and implementation of each resident's daily treatment services.
2.Participate as a multi-disciplinary team member in developing and implementing resident treatment plans and strategies.
3.Assist the Clinical Supervisor in the selection, training, ongoing professional development and performance evaluation of staff/team members.
4.Manage and monitor the program milieu and collaborate with coworkers to ensure an emotionally and physically safe environment for residents and one that is also positive, respectful, clean and therapeutic.
5.Perform other job and work-related responsibilities, tasks and projects as needed.

Qualifications

Education, Credentials and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a social work, psychology or clinically-related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years job related experience in adolescent counseling and/or residential treatment program experience required, plus 1 year supervisory experience preferred.

  • Illinois employees must meet the Medicaid qualification for an MHP in addition to the above requirements.

  • Valid driver's license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Corporate driving requirements.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to assist staff in proper restraining of residents.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100+ pounds with assista

VIEW JOBS 12/12/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-12T00:00 Description of Duties/Essential Functions Benefits Supplemental Questions Under general administrative direction, performs highly responsible duties related to the coordination and implementation of Individual Support Plans for a designated number of individuals with intellectual disabilities at Shapiro Center. Ensures timely and effective individual program implementation. Monitors, reviews and evaluates pertinent program data, specific programs, service objectives, assessments and evaluations and other information relative to each individual in order to assess progress toward goals and objectives. Coordinates the interdisciplinary team to formulate, review and modify individual support plans. Integrates aspects of the support plan to ensure that the needs of each individual are met. Ensures compliance with Shapiro Center, Department and Public Health requirements for each individual. Minimum Requirements:Requires a bachelor's degree in a human services professional field (e.g. sociology, special education, rehabilitation counseling, or psychology). A doctor of medicine or osteopathy or a registered nurse will also meet required education and training requirements. Additionally requires one year of experience working directly with individuals with intellectual or other developmental disabilities in addition to the education and training stated above. Appointees are required to have successfully completed a department training program designed specifically for the Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional before the completion of her/his probationary period. This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title. Requires extensive knowledge of, and ability to apply the principles and practices for the habilitation and training of individuals with developmental disabilities. Requires the ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
