Responsibilities

In keeping with the Marian Medical Center philosophy, the Unit Clerk/Scheduler provides clerical support to the Surgical Services Department at MMC and applicable entities. Serves as communication center by answering telephone, initiating calls. Accepts and acts as a back up to scheduler and maintains skills

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a unit clerk training course or equivalent experience in an on-the-job orientation

Preferred Requirements:

  • A minimum of six (6) months recent acute care experience as an unit clerk

Special Skills:

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of basic medicalterminology, clerical practices and procedures.

  • Demonstrates caring behaviors by displaying positive,cheerful attitude towards guests and co-workers, courteoustelephone manners.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently.

  • Communicates well and clearly both orally and in writing using the English language; spells correctly, writes legibly.

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction in exact detail.

  • Preserves the confidentiality of medical records.

  • Reacts calmly and efficiently in emergencies.

  • Ability to operate common office equipment, including CRT.

  • Adheres to dress code.

  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills and ability to workwith others across all departments.
