Description

The Unit Clerk II performs a variety of clerical, reception and support functions to ensure timely and effective day-to-day operations and communications within the Medical Imaging Department. Responsibilities may vary based on assigned area and may include: greeting and assisting patients, answering telephones, scheduling exams, registration of patients, scanning/coping/ filing; gathering appropriate information for scheduled tests and other responsibilities as assigned. Unit Clerks are also accountable for demonstrating exceptional customer service skills, attention to detail, knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD Diagnosis Codes and adhering to departmental policies, procedures, standards and protocols.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; medical receptionist, insurance and medical terminology experience; with advanced education desired.

CPR certification required within first three months.

In addition, the Unit Clerk could perform cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition under the supervision of a Registered Nurse identifies and reports changes in rhythms and life-threatening dysrhythmiasimmediately, operates/troubleshoots equipment used for basic job functions, assists with care and maintenance of equipment and supplies as needed, and follows policies, protocols, techniques and guidelines while meeting qualifications and competencies as identified. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; Certified Nursing Assistant certification or EMT-Basic (EMS) license, Basic Dysrythmia,CMT/cardiac or Monitor Tech experience in a hospital setting preferred. BLS required within first three months. Basic Dysrythmia required within first month for telemetry.
