Unit Clerk Certified Nursing Assistant- Med/Surg - PRN

Position Overview:

Functions as clerk by interacting with professional and non-professional staff, family and visitors, and the public in general. Works as direct patient care provider under supervision of professional staff.

Essential Functions:

Works under the direction of a registered nurse to provide the following:

1.Assists in maintaining the patients' records.

2.Conserves resources and reduces costs using appropriate cost containment measures, i.e., appropriately recording patient charges.

3.Requests services for patients from other departments.

4.Orders and maintains unit clerical supplies.

5.Coordinates written and verbal communication to provide information to health care team, patient and family.

6.Demonstrates effective and courteous phone communications skills.

7.Clerical and receptionist duties including computer data entry, electronic communications, and telephone expertise.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Physical Demands: Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds.

Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods. Fine motor skills. Visual acuity.

Qualifications & Skills:

a) Education: High school completion or equivalent.

b) Training & Experience: Medical terminology preferred.

c) Job Knowledge: Computer experience preferred. A range of technical and supportive functions which include communication, problem solving, beginning assessment, and prioritizing skills.
