Responsibilities

• Demonstrates professional responsibility in the role of the Unit Secretary.

• Complies with personnel policies and hospital safety policies.

• Maintains confidentiality when interacting with patients, families, personnel and the public.

• Performs duties as directed by the Director of Clinical Service and/or Charge Nurse.

• Reports any problems to the Charge Nurse and/or Director of Clinical Services in a timely manner.

• Performs receptionist/clerical functions including but not limited to, greeting patients and family in courteous manner, answering phones, faxing documents, maintaining patient records and relaying messages in an accurate and timely manner.

• Ability to use a computer, fax machine, copy machine, overhead call system and nurse call system.

• Supports and promotes Infection Control, Safety and Risk Management Programs.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High school graduate or GED required.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire required.

Preferred Requirements:

• Minimum 6 months experience as a unit clerk/secretary.
