The Union Relations / Human Resources Manager will work closely with Operational leaders, other Human Resources Managers, salaried employees, four Unions on site and the represented hourly workforce to achieve business objectives and promote positive Union relations.

Essential Responsibilities

In this role you will utilize experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

In addition, you will:

  • Provide advice and counsel to management and employees to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, procedures, and practices

  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with Union leadership

  • Administer and support all Wabtec HR policies and initiatives within the constituent plants

  • Be responsible for the administration of grievance procedure, and of collective bargaining agreements

  • Partner with business leaders on multiple human resource issues, including the following: policies, processes, and practices; evaluation and development of personnel, annual reviews; implementation of process improvement including leading change initiatives, planning, and facilitation; staffing and pipeline development

  • Investigate and provide counsel / advice regarding concerns about contractual issues

  • Work with leaders and employees to establish and maintain a positive work environment, which encourages the full use of diverse talents and abilities; act as an employee advocate; help drive various business initiatives

  • Establish, modify, and support local HR practices and policies as required

  • Responsible for investigations, conflict resolution, employee communications and management coaching

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a human resources generalist

Desired Characteristics

Minimum of 5 years experience as an human resources generalist

HR experience in a unionzed Manufacturing environment

Master's degree in Business Administration or Human Resources is preferred (MHR, MILR, MBA)

Proven training ability

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization

Relocation lump sum may be provided if you meet eligibility guidelines

Duties and Responsibilities: * Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance. * Directs the interpretation and consistent application of established human resources policies throughout the organization. * Maintains overall supervision of the organizations recruitment, placement and training programs assuring compliance with all Title VII laws, ADA regulations and with the Equal Employment Opportunity regulations. Ensures that the business units Affirmative Action Program is compliant and up to date at all times. * Coordinates and participates in disciplinary and/or termination proceedings. Conducts investigations as necessary, and ensures appropriate documentation and policy application. Works through employee relations issues in accordance with the organizations polices and all applicable federal and state laws and other regulations. * Represents the company at unemployment compensation hearings (depending on nature of incident, etc. may have legal representation). * Administers wage and salary policies and structures and performance appraisal programs. Assures that the organizations compensation program is competitive and equitable and follows the Corporate Compensation departments compensation philosophy and guidelines. * Conducts salary surveys and reviews findings with CEO and CFO. * Exercises general supervision over all organization benefit programs and services. * Directs and maintains various activities designed to promote and maintain a high level of employee morale. * Designated as the plan administrator for the companys 401(k) Plan. * Oversees the Employee Health and Safety. * Maintains OSHA logs, records and reports. * Sits on the Senior Leadership team for the local Business Unit. * Performs other duties as assigned.
