Union CDL Relief Garbage Driver

Pay and Schedule:

• Competitive starting wage of $31.62/hr, increasing to $34.75/hr after 692 hours

• Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a refuse truck on specified routes to collect recyclables. Waste experience is preferred but not required.

• Read route sheets and efficiently service each customer identified or assigned.

• Perform routine vehicle inspection and maintenance, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.

• Physically demanding job requiring loading and unloading, sometimes without assistance.

• Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.

• Maintain courteous interaction with customers and fulfill other assigned duties as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

• Extensive physical activity involves heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.

• The work environment includes exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts, requiring adherence to safety precautions.

• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, occasional fumes, and moderate noise levels.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement as a minimum requirement.

• Proficiency in reading, writing, comprehending, and communicating in English. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Minimum one year of directly related experience.

• Basic knowledge of truck components for pre-and post-trip inspections.
