POSITION SUMMARY:

As part of the Labor Department team, the Union Benefits Coordinator will primarily support the Benefits Supervisor in the day-to-day tracking of fringe benefit contributions and related data entry, research, and response to Union Fund audit requests, and filing and scanning of contribution reports. With over 300 collective bargaining agreement, this position requires attention to detail, ability to multi-task and work independently. An understanding of basic accounting functions and previous accounts payable experience is preferred.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Scans and enters contribution reports and payments into system database

  • Updates and distributes project activity tracker monthly

  • Supports Pipeline division in weekly tracking and compiling of per-diem pay requirements

  • Directly supports Supervisor in pulling information as requested by Fund auditors and weekly update of Audit tracking spreadsheets

  • Performs filing and additional administrative support as needed or required for a special project

  • Reviews and updates wage rate schedules into employee payroll database

QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Strong organizational skills; extremely detail oriented; ability to multi-task; works with a minimum of supervision

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and strong interpersonal skills

  • Exhibits behaviors of honesty, commitment to goal achievement and effective relationships with colleagues

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates Degree or 2+ years of equivalent experience in business or labor relations

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel

POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Labor Relations, the Union Benefits Coordinator will be working in tandem with the Labor Team to coordinate the payments of union fringe contributions. With over 400 union contracts, this position requires attention to detail, ability to multi-task and work independently. An understanding of basic accounting functions and previous experience with a Benefit Fund is preferred. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Processes monthly and weekly union reports both manually and through on-line system. * Works directly with accounts payable to process payments and rectify under / over payments. * Enters new benefit deductions and wage rates. * Processes weekly and monthly reports. * Enters employee fringe benefit and voluntary deduction authorizations into system. * Researches and processes over / underpayment of fringe contribution payments. * Updates & maintains department procedure manual. * Responds to internal / external requests and inquiries. QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERRED SKILLS: * High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. * Experience with financial/payroll systems, preferably JD Edwards (JDE). * Strong organizational skills; extremely detail oriented; ability to multi-task; works with a minimum of supervision. * Ability to work within a team environment and follow standardized practices and department procedures. * Exhibits behaviors of honesty, commitment to goal achievement and effective relationships with colleagues. * Ability to use analysis, experience, and logical methods to solve challenging problems and can incorporate new methods for continuous improvement, both individually and in a team environment. * Pursues goals and objectives with energy, taking ownership of actions and willing to take decisive action even in the face of resistance or setbacks to push for results. * Ability to lead by example, acknowledge and assume responsibility for successes and failures in terms of actions, decisions, processes, and results. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's Degree with experience or advanced education in business, labor relations, human resources, or legal field preferred. * Minimum 1 -3 years of business/office experience required. * Construction administration experience preferred. * Experience in a union environment preferred.
