SUMMARY

Responsible for overseeing underwriting and renewal analytics data with the objective of providing business intelligence information to internal and external customers regarding their health insurance plans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Delivers data analysis from a variety of sources with a strong emphasis on providing actionable insights to consultants and clients, based on a clear understanding of business objectives;

  • Tracks, analyzes and reports on plan design trends, claims utilization patterns, diagnosis patterns, and other financial and marketing indicators;

  • Coordinates meetings, gathers necessary data and project manages the renewal process

  • Acts as a liaison between sales, underwriting, insurance carriers and account management team to ensure each has the information needed in order to effectively implement their .

  • Assists with the creation of client analysis document deliverables such as spreadsheets, renewal packets and other supporting data as needed. Recommends and supports the implementation of new content topics based on analysis findings;

  • Collaborates with local and national team in the evaluation of analytics software and 3rd party analytics firms;

  • Performs live demonstrations of analytical capabilities to clients and prospective clients as a collaborative effort with both account services and sales teams;

  • Audits the sold plans, rates and relevant data to provide insight, data trends, and reports on quoted versus sold.

  • Collection of fees, reconciliation and resolution of any outstanding balances within 60 days of invoicing date;

  • Complies with agency management system data standards and data integrity (enters and maintains complete and accurate information);

  • Other special projects as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in computer science, data analysis or related field
1-3 years related work experience

Experience with medical underwriting database management and related software

Experience with healthcare data analysis and reporting preferred

Valid insurance license (or must be obtained within 90 days of employment)

Must continue to meet Continuing Education requirements for license renewal

SKILLS

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent problem solving and time management skills

Good customer service skills, including telephone and listening skills

Ability to work within a team and to foster teamwork

Ability to prioritize work for multiple projects and deadlines

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

As a key member of our ESU division and reporting to the Vice President of Professional Liability, you will be accountable for all facets of new business and renewal handling with a strong emphasis on new business production underwriting in the areas of Private/Non-For-Profit. Objective: * Grow a profitable, diversified book of Private/Non-For-Profit business, both primary and excess. * Develop a risk appetite and growth strategy for the Everest PL book. * Adapt and introduce new products to expand the Everest PL product offerings. * Actively market the division's capabilities, increasing market presence and driving submission growth. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Actively manage and drive business for Private/Non-For-Profit. * Demonstrate a full understanding of corporate underwriting philosophies, authority and guidelines. * Analyze new business for risk profitability as determined by a review of underwriting, claims and financial data. * Underwrite renewal business according to current underwriting approach and philosophy in a service oriented environment, ensuring high renewal retention. * Develop and maintain positive business relationships with producers including solicitation of new business opportunities. * Assist in the development and coordination of product and marketing efforts. * Ability to assess and communicate to the Everest Underwriting Team and Senior Management competitive factors in the marketplace as they relate to Everest's corporate underwriting portfolio. Work Experience & Qualifications * Minimum 10 years of Professional Liability underwriting experience, demonstrating subject matter expertise in Private/Non-For-Profit with and strong contacts within the industry. * Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide concise and cogent reports, referrals and summaries to senior management * Excellent analytical and computer skills, with a demonstrated ability to use data analytics and make appropriate conclusions based upon results. * Strong interpersonal and social skills. * In-depth knowledge of the US insurance and reinsurance markets. * Solid negotiation, oral and written communication skills. * Ability to maintain excellent relations with brokers and provide superior service. * Team oriented and ability to work effectively with peers. * Strong prioritization skills to meet daily demand and deadlines to meet all service requirements. * BA/BS degree; advanced degree a plus. * Occasional travel, including overnight or extended trips, is required.
