The Position

The Underwriting Operations Specialist participates in underwriting operations support functions in the company's Lender Products Division.

Job Responsibilities

Functions related to this position include premium loading and balancing, premium auditing, new client setup and production of management reports.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Responsible for processing premium batches for all Lender Division Products that are received from our agents and administrators.

  • Contact and resolve with agents and administrators any data or reconciliation issues with the premium batches.

  • Conduct in-house audits related to the accuracy of new premium transactions and refund transactions for the Lender Division Products.

  • Calculate the monthly contingent commissions for the agents and administrators as needed.

  • Validate the monthly cession statements for our reinsurance portfolio.

  • Identify and recommend to the Underwriting Operations Manager process or system changes to improve data capture or overall product management related to the various products.

  • Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Desired Skills/Experience

Key Competencies:

  • Knowledge of insurance premium processing and policy management systems/databases is required.

  • Customer service and negotiating skills are also helpful in dealing with existing clients and prospects.

  • Analytical and Accounting reconciliation skills preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (various data file formats ie.CSV.TXT) and Word are also required.

Experience:

  • Three years of prior experience in insurance industry involving insurance/premium accounting and/or insurance underwriting operations.

  • Experience working with agents/F&I administrators or financial institutions, while not required, is an added benefit.

Education

  • Four year undergraduate degree preferred.

VIEW JOBS 10/16/2020 12:00:00 AM 2021-01-14T00:00 The Position The Vice President, WLS Underwriting serves as the primary day-to-day contact between the Program Administrator/MGA and Arch. The position is responsible for a variety of technical underwriting functions including creation of underwriting guidelines, product/business line support, and coverage expertise for the Warranty & Lender Solutions business unit. Additionally, it is responsible for the overall underwriting management of the program(s) with a major focus on adherence to underwriting guidelines, compliance with company filings, reinsurance, rate level monitoring, and preparation of contracts. The role also interfaces with all support functions of Arch including claims, accounting, finance, actuarial, legal and IT in order to monitor profitability, analyze claims, and intervene/liaise between these functions and the Program Administrator/MGA. Job Responsibilities * Relationship Management between the Program Administrator/MGA and Arch. * Establishment of quantitative underwriting reporting requirements from the Administrator/MGA and monitoring adherence to guidelines. * Individual account referral underwriting. * Performance of underwriting audits and appropriate follow-up. * Preparation of monthly reports for presentation to senior management on the overall performance of Lenders and ongoing open issues/problems. * Interaction with support divisions to gather information necessary for overall program profitability reviews. * Regular communications with Administrator/MGA to keep current on market conditions, competition, changing regulatory environment, etc. * Issue resolution (internal and external) and escalation to senior management. * Act as liaison between support divisions and the Program Administrator/MGA to secure information, assist in answering inquiries and resolving open issues/problems. * Work with Corporate Compliance/Underwriting on forms filings - including drafting of forms, revisions, and any required responses to states' questions. * Develop, draft and review manuscript endorsements as needed by underwriting for individual accounts. * Research and develop underwriting guidelines for business units on a variety of line of business and industry specific topics. Desired Skills/Experience * 15+ years underwriting experience in P&C industry. * Experience leading a team and allocating resources to projects. * Work experience as a home office underwriter preferred but not mandatory. * High attention to detail and strong analytical skills. * Sound independent judgment. * Excellent time management and organizational skills. * Strong oral and written communication skills. * Willingness to travel. * Sound technology capabilities in Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and ability to use and manipulate data. * Exceptional in the areas of Teamwork & Interpersonal skills; Strategic Thinking; Problem Solving/Decision Making; Marketing, Sales, and Negotiations; Interpersonal/Communication Skills; Management & Leadership; Operational & Compliance; and Industry Knowledge. * Embraces the Arch Experience Values and Behaviors. * The candidate should have a minimum of ten years of increasing responsibilities in underwriting related functions pertaining to Vehicle Service Contracts, Collateral Protection Products, and other Finance and Insurance marketing channel products, particularly service contracts and related products.
