Responsible for the overall underwriting, profit, growth and retention of new and renewal business that is consistent with the strategy of the company. Recruit, coach and develop underwriting staff to achieve individual, department and company objectives.
Develops, implements, monitors and executes underwriting strategies to support the organization's objectives.
Maintain a strong understanding of the marketplace, pricing and product offerings as well as demographic trends and report any changes that may impact the company's position in the market and develop mitigation plans where appropriate.
Sustain a thorough working knowledge of all company operations such as underwriting guidelines, procedures and tools, and policy and coverage provisions.
Establishes, monitors and provides pricing guidance on new and renewal business to assure long-term profitability.

Provide feedback and technical guidance to underwriters and/or underwriting assistants.

Develops strong internal and external relationships with various business partners including Claims, Loss Control, Agency Management, Premium Audit, PACTS, etc.

BS/BA college degree. The knowledge and skill levels acquired through undergraduate level studies especially in the areas of business administration, finance or marketing.
8 years of P & C insurance industry experience with increasing repsonsiblity and prior supervisory experience-preferred.
