In this role, you'll lead a team of Business Product Owners who manage the Voice of the Customer for Dental, Vision, and Supplemental Health Solutions (SHS) Risk Management and Underwriting (RMUW) applications. You'll work with our partners to represent the RMUW community in the development cycle (Voice of the UW), design UI/workflow, lead project work, and coordinate work across teams. You'll be accountable for program delivery including but not limited to: (1) with Healthcare pricing, the rewrite of the current Dental rating and projection models, and (2) working with RMUW Decision Enablement to launch the SHS KPI Dashboard. A successful candidate will possess strong business and leadership skills that will enable them to appropriately manage and motivate a team responsible for executing on RMUW initiatives.

Specific responsibilities:

Relationship

  • Serve as the customer liaison and representative between the agile teams (i.e., IT and vendors) and the RMUW business areas impacted by assigned initiatives.

  • Collaboratively partner with internal and external stakeholders and matrix partners.

  • Serve as the owner for processes/tools within your scope. Provide Underwriting subject matter expertise on process, methodology, and application impacts within Underwriting and matrix partner organizations (e.g. Sales, IT, Pricing, and Product). Drive process and tools standards.

Delivery Management

  • Participate in Underwriting Intake Management activities as needed; attend enterprise impact assessment meetings to understand project requests, assist UW intake manager in assessing process and tool implications and development of final capacity/budgeting estimates. Follow documentation guidelines.

  • Set and communicate requirement deadlines for stakeholders who wish to have solutions implemented into UW process and tools

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and manage their expectations regarding timing and delivery.

  • Ensure projects are delivered as planned, adhere to high quality standards and meet customer expectations. Escalate risks and roadblocks as needed.

  • Create risk and release contingency plans. Mitigate and escalate issues as appropriate and facilitate discussions when necessary (road blocks, risks, scope, decisions. etc.)

  • Communicate status to program management, stakeholders, sponsor.

  • Coordinate and facilitate scope across all of the UW-led Scrum teams for your RM&UW applications. Manage delivery sequence and dependencies across projects, programs and teams for projects and tools in your scope.

  • Provide support to the estimation process to help derive cost for funded initiatives as well as feasible timelines. Partner with peer SMEs to support cost-benefit analyses and creation of business cases, evaluating trade-offs and business impacts.

  • Assess maintenance or project work effort for your discipline for intake items that impact your set of P&Ps, processes, tools, etc. (know if something is a large change, versus something that can easily be done)

  • Assess and consolidate impacts and total development effort across the integrated and standalone tools in your scope.

  • Attend Scope meetings with other Product Managers as needed; contribute to sequencing discussions.

  • Engage in design when solutions cross multiple systems, platforms and/or organizations.

  • Negotiate compromises with stakeholders. Sign off on design of on processes, tools, interfaces, etc.

  • Drive project/implementation documentation best practices and standards including but not limited to how to develop and maintain Features, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, and Test Scenarios. Drive best practices on documentation tools.

  • "Shift Left" when needed to support up-front Intake, Prioritization and Project Leadership activities; "Shift Right" when needed to support Testing, P&Ps and Production Support.

  • Lead end-to-end special projects on behalf of the Underwriting Delivery and Enablement Senior Director.

Team Management

  • Motivate, lead and direct agile teams. Determine allocation of work, set and communicate clear expectations and timelines, and manage outcomes. Understand inter-team dependencies and create and maintain a positive team culture.

  • Manage team and individual capacity

  • Set and drive the strategy for P&P documentation for your tools.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 4 years of equivalent experience required

  • 3+ years of experience working in the Agile Scrum methodology required

  • 5+ years of experience working in the Risk Management and Underwriting organization desired

  • Recent experience in new end user workflow and tool development strongly preferred

  • Solid RM&UW or equivalent (Sales, Product, Pricing) business knowledge

  • Commercial Medical/Pharmacy/Dental/Supplemental/Stop Loss Underwriting process and tool knowledge for u3000/o3000 segments strongly preferred.

  • Highly skilled and experienced at delivery, project/program management, process management, change management, operations, and continuous improvement.

  • Strong learning and organizational agility. Ability to effectively operate in an innovative, agile and dynamically changing environment.

  • Ability to organize requirements and resources to assist with project needs.

  • Must work well in a dynamic, multi-faceted and matrixed environment, which includes an agile team, a variety of Cigna functional areas, and external vendors

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 124,400 - 207,400 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
