The Underwriting Assistant (UA) assists underwriters in writing, managing, and servicing new and renewal business to include all lines of property and casualty insurance. This role will perform initial review of accounts, rate coverage in carrier systems and prepare files for underwriting, as well as policy issuance and endorsement processing. The UA will work in conjunction with underwriters to provide superior customer service via phone and email in a fast paced environment. hybrid position, 2-3 days onsite

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate accounts to determine acceptability with underwriting appetite.

  • Interact with agent clients to provide superior customer service via phone and email.

  • Review submissions for completeness, accuracy and request additional information as needed.

  • Rate and issue policies.

  • Work with accounting department to bill clients.

  • Provide reports to management when requested.

  • Responsible for all documentation of Underwriting files.

  • Attend team meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Follow up for requested information as needed.

  • Fully assist Underwriters in all aspects of their primary responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Previous insurance experience, preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to service and maintain strong relationships with agents.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and demonstrates teamwork capabilities.

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet applications.
