Underwriting Assistant Intern - Marine

The Intern will be a team player within the Middle Office of AXA XL Marine and will perform tasks to directly support Operations Manager, Underwriting Assistants and/or Project Leaders.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Support project work, research, development, testing, data entry and work under the direction of Operations Manager/Project Leads

  • ODEN notices

  • Obtain Loss Runs

  • Any required non-renewal packages

  • Support Assistants with collection of account and insured information for risk analysis

  • May perform pre-analysis support for submissions, endorsements, other incoming documents at the direction of the Underwriting Assistant or Operations Manager

  • Quality control new business, renewals and/or endorsements in Genius

  • Update policy log to accurately reflect account status and notes to/from the Underwriting Assistants

  • Accountable for completeness of contents of Coding/Issuance package prior to handover to Processing Specialist for Coding/Issuance process

  • Accountable for collection of information on reporting policies and complete the premium calculations

  • Accountable for accuracy of data entry completed

  • Apply working knowledge of processes and procedures associated with Underwriting Support responsibilities

  • Assist with Account Receivable collections when required

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

Education & Specialized

  • Must be currently pursuing a degree and hands on equine experience

  • Basic competency in MS Office applications: Word, Outlook, Excel required

  • Basic competency in Adobe Standard or similar pdf conversion tool

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Interpersonal skills in order to work effectively and professionally with diverse groups

  • Proven organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Proven prioritization and time management skills with accurate results

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to perform basic functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent

  • Ability to interpret bar graphs and charts
