Responsibilities

This position provides the opportunity to learn how to evaluate risks for Workers' Compensation, Businessowners', Commercial Auto, and Umbrella policies for small businesses. This is a great opportunity to begin a career in the commercial insurance industry to learn about interesting commercial insurance products.   • Utilize company underwriting criteria to evaluate risks for various lines of business

  • Perform independent verification of insured's operations

  • Review and process change requests on in-force policies

  • Evaluate in-force policies at renewal

  • Develop relationships with agencies

  • Participate in Underwriting Training for new products, directives and processes

  • Travel to agency offices as needed

Qualifications

Candidates should have investigative skills, be comfortable using the Internet as a research tool, have excellent communication and customer service skills, and must be an overall team player. You will work in a fast-paced team environment and candidates should have the ability to adapt quickly to changes and have solid time management skills. Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Responsibilities The Personal Lines Manager will oversee the day to day operations of a fast paced, high volume Personal Lines Underwriting unit, including, but not limited to: * Manage unit to meet service level objectives. * Ensure unit guidelines are followed and reflective of both state filed, and internal underwriting guidelines, as well as within approved authority levels. * Support underwriting unit by handling referrals and escalations, provide technical guidance and expertise, and assist in the development and implementation of continued training for Underwriting Staff. * Participate in the successful implementation of underwriting projects and initiatives. * Advocate compliance and recommend possible improvements to underwriting policies, processes, guidelines and practices. * Provide leadership, support and guidance to the underwriting supervisors and teams. * Effectively work with higher level management, and leadership in other disciplines to maintain a team approach to meeting production and profitability goals. Qualifications * 3+ years prior Homeowners underwriting experience strongly preferred. * 3+ years prior supervisory/ management experience strongly preferred. * Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. * E&S experience a plus. * Insurance designations a plus. * Successful candidates will have strong leadership and problem solving skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment. * This position is based out of our Corporate Office in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
