UNDERWRITING ANALYST - SAN FRANCISCO, CA
Reporting directly to the Underwriting Manager in the San Francisco, CA office location, the Underwriting Analyst will assist and support the Underwriting Department in providing exceptional customer service levels for policyholders, agents/producers and internal customers. The Underwriting Analyst will also handle policy processing for new business, renewals, and ongoing account maintenance. This is a great opportunity to start or continue a career in insurance. Support the development, growth and maintenance of an assigned book of business working directly with the UW staff.
Responsible for providing support to the Underwriters through account maintenance within underwriting authority. Process all policy new business, endorsements, renewals and routine mail in their assigned book of business
Perform specialized rating functions (e.g. quotations for large submissions, Hospital and Facility rating, etc.).
Prepares non-automated policy forms, letters and documents; send to appropriate clients (insured/agent)
Processes out-going mail - bundling and movement to CS mailing files, etc.
Provide exceptional customer service to incoming callers & emails and communicate as needed to the underwriters to obtain additional information.
Support Underwriting efforts to develop, cultivate and strengthen relationships with our Agency/Broker partners.
Provide assistance to the Underwriters in the assigned territory by preparing necessary policy documents prior to Agency/Broker visits.
Maintain highest level of customer service and produce accurate work with minimal mistakes.
Understand and achieve productivity requirements to meet Company objectives.
Demonstrates a sense of urgency and consistently meet processing deadlines per company customer service standards.
Maintain and develop strong technical skills including both product and system knowledge.
Demonstrate expert system skills Oasis, Image Right, MIC5, RIGS in the assigned territory.
Has an exceptional understanding of NORCAL Group's products (policy, endorsements and rating tools) in the assigned territory.
Work with IT and/or Business Analyst to troubleshoot, coordinate and communicate system problems.
Serve as primary tester representing Underwriting interests with system upgrades, new releases, etc.
Proficient in running established data warehouse reports
Maintain strong relationships internally to support the UW Team efforts as well as cross departmental and cross office.
Maintain an organized approach to managing the multiple tasks of a high volume desk.
Plan ahead for peak workload times.
Flexibility to support other team members as needed based on volume of workloads.
Participate in assigned projects and departmental efforts as an active and positive team member.
Clear, constructive communication with other team members to address needs and concern.
Mentors less experienced underwriting personnel on rating, policy processing and system issues.
