Chubb is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Underwriting Associate in its New York City office . As a UA you are accountable to:
Contribute to the achievement of Operations and Financial Lines goals relating to growth, profit, renewal retention and service
Bind, book and issue new line and renewal policies, midterm endorsements, and cancellations in applicable rating and issuance systems in accordance with standardized workflows
Review renewal submissions for receipt of all underwriting information and follow up with producer for missing information
Analyze renewal information submitted by producer including loss information, application and financial reports
Complete underwriting analysis template and documents template with renewal changes for referral to underwriter
Rate renewal policies and determine pricing strategy in conjunction with underwriter
Coordinate quotation process and complete quote letter for referral to underwriter
Provide rating, quoting and issuance support on all new lines
Conduct clearance and process all transactions in appropriate systems
Completes follow up on manuscript endorsement requests
Communicate open item status with producers and underwriters
Research and resolve premium discrepancies and compliance issues
Assist with account management and achievement of service goals
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Strong written and verbal communication skills and customer service orientation
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others both internally and externally in a professional, courteous and competent manner
Ability to multi-task and to independently prioritize competing demands and requests within given time constraints
Fundamental knowledge of underwriting principles and the insurance industry preferred but not required
Basic understanding of financial concepts and terminology
High proficiency in MS Word and Excel
Mathematical aptitude
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in a similar role preferred
The pay range for the role is $37,500 to $66,500. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
