The Digital Distribution Underwriter/Associate Underwriter candidate is a proven performer with the ability to work with autonomy and accountability. This role is responsible for the review, evaluation, and judgment of risks on the renewal book of business for Workers Compensation Insurance on a nationwide basis. The Underwriter will collaborate with multiple departments (Loss Control, Premium Audit, Claims, and Business Development) to ensure growth and profitability.

What you'll be doing:

  • Profitably manage distribution channel renewal book of business.

  • Meet renewal retention and pricing goals.

  • Manage, maintain and process BOR inbox and BORs in a timely & accurate manner.

  • Process cancellations according to state guidelines.

  • Review applications for coverage requiring underwriting acceptance of risks using professional judgment in accordance with company risk appetite and company guidelines.

  • Work within authority to review renewal policies and prepare recommendations for referral.

  • Preserve profitability by managing risk performance through co-ordination with Loss Control, Premium Audit, Claims and Sales through monitoring of loss experience and taking appropriate action to reduce or eliminate future claims.

  • Monitoring and evaluation of Agent and state results, reporting and establishment of action plans as needed.

  • Make recommendations for growth strategies capitalizing on new identified opportunities.

  • Train for a subsequent growth within role to support peers within Digital Distribution by providing new business coverage for them on a nationwide basis.

  • Adhere to regional and state guidelines.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 1 to 3 years industry experience; Industry designation or professional degree preferred.

  • Primary experience in the Workers' Compensation industry.

  • Strong quantitative analytical skills desired.

  • Competitive, transaction-oriented professional preferred.

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with fluency in Microsoft Excel application.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience working with NCCI, WCIRB, WCRB, CAOM, NYCIRB, NJCRIB, NCRB, PCRB and DCRB rules and regulations.

  • Travel up to 15%

Pay information:

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The salary for the position is $50,250 - $83,750K with a 15% bonus potential.
