Under close supervision, responsible for the evaluation of life insurance risk probabilities for carrier underwriters so they can more quickly determine. This individual will also provide offers on Quick Quote files that contain no personal information and are nonbinding. Work with the team Manager and other Associates in developing and building this product line, supporting systems and entities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assesses risks for the purpose of providing assessment services to carrier clients through evaluation of an individual's medical history or physical condition, occupational hazards, financial background, insurable interest and other information pertinent to the decision
Participates in the ongoing education and development of the underwriters and department resources, i.e., home office practices, medical situations and impairments, and the dynamics of working with team's foreign and domestic associates
Effectively communicates with carrier underwriters and management, with appropriate case documentation to ensure exceptional customer service
Proactively presents ideas and participates in projects that contribute to the improvement of the department and its ability to deliver the best underwriting solutions and services to customers
Develops knowledge of carrier underwriting guidelines, insurance products, brokerage market, and re-insurance market
Maintains knowledge of insurance industry and keep team abreast of changes necessary to ensure delivery of the most comprehensive solutions and services to our customers
Represents company at industry conferences and events, i.e., AHOU, and presents to internal and external customers.
Completes 150 to 300 quick quote reviews per day and/or provides assistance in auditing, assessments, and clearing of DUPLICATE files
Required Skills and Competencies:

Bachelor's degree in business or a related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Previous junior underwriting or equivalent experience
Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
Ability to provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers
Effective time management skills
Ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks simultaneously
Capable of working independently as well as in a team environment
Ability to work in a self-directed fashion
Experience with PC's in a Windows environment
Strong knowledge of medical and financial underwriting
Strong risk assessment and negotiation skills
Ability to identify workflow improvements and recommend for implementation
