Duties & Responsibilities

  • Utilizes appropriate skills and tools to underwrite Financial Lines Small Business Renewals. Conducts in-depth underwriting analysis and determines best course of action on a risk specific basis.

  • Maintains underwriting quality standards. Includes appropriate file documentation relating to final underwriting decision.

  • Serves as the renewal point person for managing assigned broker relationships. Maintains a high level of visibility through proactive account management and communication.

  • Develops and executes effective strategies to generate renewal retention.

  • Analyzes opportunities and creates business development strategies for assigned book of business.

  • Collaborates throughout Westchester to educate agents on products, services, as well as underwriting strategies and product marketing.

  • Gathers pertinent competitive information to assist in product development recommendations.

Responsibility for the profitable growth via an assigned group of agency storefronts utilizing approved underwriting strategy and guidelines. Ideal candidates will demonstrate technical underwriting skills along with the clear ability to create producer relationships in order to build a submission pipeline, leverage agency intelligence, and drive production to meet and exceed business goals. Key Responsibilities: * Work to develop and manage a portfolio of package business. Business will focus on multiple industry segments with Property values between $2.5 million and $15 million * Collaborate with Westchester Binding and Brokerage Underwriting teams to build meaningful relationships with appointed agency partners. * Follow all underwriting guidelines as established by division management including applicable segment eligibility guidelines and individual underwriter authorities * Meet or exceed established service and quality standards related to timely submission review, quote, policy issuance, premium registration, billing, and file documentation Required Skills: * Minimum three years of experience underwriting middle market accounts on a package basis to include Property, General Liability, Umbrella, and Professional Liability * Mastery of key underwriting concepts, best practices, and procedures including identifying exposures to loss, material hazards, and implementation of necessary risk management controls * Proficiency using proprietary underwriting platform(s) and systems needed to process business * Effective sales, marketing, and communication skills including the ability to clearly articulate business objectives and drive customer submission activity * Ability to work cross functionally in a team oriented environment Minimum Experience Requirements: * Three years of middle market package underwriting experience * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite * Bachelor's degree * Professional Insurance Designations (preferred) Chubb Malvern PA
