The Role
The SSNX program is seeking to hire an R&D Portfolio Manager in order to aid in the continued growth and development of the SSNX program as it continues to add additional projects and programs within its purview. This position will be responsible for helping to enable continued research and development of new technologies for use in undersea applications. The position will help aid in the development of future funded and IRAD tasking, prioritization of existing tasking, resource allocation, and have a high degree of customer interactions and should be able to help influence the customer in a positive manner with respect to on-going R&D projects. This position supports the APRP initiative.
Daily responsibilities include:
Designs and implements business processes to enable product research and development portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, and risk management
Designs related integrated process team activities and directs activities to ensure vertical and horizontal integration.
Provides product portfolio analyses and reports to management committees for support of decision-making
Leads teams in strategy efforts, lifecycle management planning, and assessments of probability-of-success
Develops systems to support dynamic portfolio management
Serves a key role in portfolio evaluation process
Drives initiatives across functions and research and development units to create fully integrated strategies
Monitors and reports on portfolio status
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.
One of the following may be used as an equivalent to Bachelor's Degree :
NNS Apprentice School graduate
Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
Nice to Have
Applicants should have a strong technical background and understanding of undersea warfare programs and how NNS can aid in achieving the Navy's long term plan for its fleet
Applicants should have exceptional verbal and written communication and be able to present to all manners of leadership both within the company and to our customers
