Minimum Training & Experience
UNDERGROUND UTILITIES TECHNICIAN I
Minimum Training & Experience
Possession of a high school diploma or an equivalent recognized certificate.
Necessary Special Requirements
Must possess a valid Class E State driver's license at the time of appointment and obtain a commercial learner's permit (CLP) within three (3) months from the date of appointment, as a condition of employment. Obtain a Class "A" State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with required endorsement(s) within nine (9) months from the date of appointment, as a condition of continued employment. It is a requirement the employee register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
Note: Individuals hired into this job class after April 3, 2014, must obtain a Florida Water and Pollution Control Operator's Association (FW&PCOA) Class "C" Collections Certification or Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FL DEP) Level "III" Distribution License, as is designated for the position, and attend and pass the internal training courses and examinations designated for the Underground Utilities Technician I job class within 24 months of hire into the job class, as a condition of continued employment.
UNDERGROUND UTILITIES TECHNICIAN II
Minimum Training & Experience
Possession of a high school diploma or an equivalent recognized certificate and two years of experience in utility construction and/or operation of utility construction related equipment, or two years of experience that includes utility distribution or collection, or two years of experience as an Underground Utility Technician I.
Necessary Special Requirements
Must have attended & passed the designated Underground Utilities Technician I training courses and passed the required exams.
In accordance with the designation for positions assigned to this class, incumbents must, at the time of application:
Possess a Class "A" State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and endorsement(s) and maintain as condition of continued employment; and
Possess a current Florida Water and Pollution Control Operator's Association (FWPCOA) Class "C" Collections Certification or Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FL DEP) Level "III" Distribution License, as is designated for the position as condition of continued employment; and
Possess certifications in Maintenance of Traffic, Confined Space, Excavation and Trenching.
UNDERGROUND UTILITIES TECHNICIAN III
MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Two years of experience as an Underground Utility Technician II, or in an equivalent position, in an area that involves:
Journey Level Technicians: utility distribution or collection, maintenance and repair.
Specialty Equipment Operations: utility construction, maintenance or repair and/or operation of specialized utility construction, maintenance or repair equipment.
Water Measurement Technicians: testing, repairing and calibrating water meters.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
In accordance with the designation for positions assigned to this class, incumbents must, at the time of appointment:
Have completed all required internal training for Underground Utility Technician I and II; and
Possess a Class "A" State Commercial Driver License (CDL) and endorsement(s) (CDL) and maintain same as a condition of continued employment; and
Possess and maintain the designated current Florida Water and Pollution Control Operator's Association (FWPCOA) Collections Certification and/or Florida Department of Environmental Protection Distribution License, as a condition of continued employment.
(Journey Level Technicians) must hold entry level water and sewer certifications or an advanced sewer certification (level B or higher) or an advanced water distribution license (level II or higher).
Utility Camera Operators must hold a water or sewer certification and be Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP) certified.
Other Specialty Equipment Operators must hold a water or sewer certification or license and have passed the internal training for equipment operation.
Water Measurement Technicians must hold water certification and acquire (within 90 days or term of probation) and maintain certification by manufacturer for water meter testing, calibration and repair.
Salary Range
$14.8809 to $46.8208/hourly.
Additional Information
4-10 hour work week (M - Th) or (T - F).
