Position Information

Organizational Relationship: reports to the Director of Traditional Undergraduate Admissions

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Traditional Undergraduate Admissions, this position assists in the enrollment growth for undergraduate programs and participates in recruitment and marketing efforts aimed at attracting new students to the university. In addition, the position coordinates activities and provides services relating to the recruitment of prospective students and assists applicants to the university through the admission process.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Undergraduate Admissions Counselor will:

• participate in the development and implementation of a strategic recruitment plan for undergraduate programs in assigned territory.
• be responsible for the management of the designated student pool in Salesforce and Campus Nexus.
• provide weekly enrollment updates to the Director of Traditional Undergraduate Admissions.
• execute continual follow-up with prospective students, student inquiries, and new applicants according to current admissions processes and policies.
• assist in coordinating recruitment events as directed by the Director of Traditional Undergraduate Admissions.
• fully participate in marketing activities and recruitment events for undergraduate programs.
• facilitate and participate in HIU recruitment presentations at assigned events.
• educate students and families about current financial aid programs and processes.
• administer, as directed, pre-enrollment events that require university-wide collaboration.
• participate in the recruitment of established partnership programs.
• assist the university in developing and advancing relationships with high schools and transfer centers at community colleges in designated territories.
• develop community relations with churches, colleges, and high schools.
• visit community colleges on a regular basis and participate in transfer days and fairs.
• be responsible for providing preliminary transcript evaluations for prospective transfer students.
• collaborate to develop, implement, and maintain transfer guides.
• remain current on HIU educational programs with the ability to recruit, including, but not limited to undergraduate, online, and graduate programs.
• provide excellent customer service to prospective students, current students, and parents, and answer questions pertaining to admissions.
• promote cooperation, teamwork, and coordination between the various departments of the university toward the end of honoring the Lord and providing the best possible services to constituents.
• perform other duties as determined by the Director of Traditional Undergraduate Admissions.

Qualifications: To fulfill this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience: Customer service, sales, and admission counseling experience is required. A bachelor's degree is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Must have a general understanding of higher education as an industry and the demands of enrollment management. Must possess an outgoing, extroverted personality. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications is required. Previous CRM experience preferred. Must be comfortable with public speaking and meeting new people. Possesses general knowledge of Hope International University.

Mental Demands: Applicant should be self-directed, proactive, and able to take initiative; highly organized, detail- and multi-task oriented; able to set priorities and responsibilities; competent in problem-solving; able to deal effectively with a variety of personalities and various cultural backgrounds.

Visual Demands: Applicant should expect extended viewing of a computer monitor, proofreading, photocopying, filing, and quality control.

Physical Demands: Applicant should be able to: endure extended time at keyboard/computer monitor and telephone, stand and converse with people at events for hours at a time, lift 20 pounds, and drive a vehicle for extended periods of time.

Environment: This position is fast-paced, service-oriented, and multi-cultural. Includes extensive contact with support staff, faculty, students, prospective students, church leaders, and the general public.

Character: Must possess a high level of integrity, embody Christian character, and be actively involved in a local church.

Hiring Range: $25.00 - $26.00
