The Financial Aid Specialist possesses an understanding of higher education finances and the importance of financial services in higher education. The Financial Aid Specialist will award, process and report on all Title IV, state and institutional funding for the College. The Financial Aid Specialist complies with guidelines for financial aid as set forth by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Association of Financial Aid Administrators. The Financial Aid Specialist assists with daily business operations, financial reporting, documentation, and communicates with all faculty, staff and students in a professional manner.

Responsibilities
Financial Aid Advising
Maintains confidentiality of all student and business financial information.
Counsels and advises all students and parents individually regarding all the available options to finance their educational goals.
Works with the individual students and parents through the entire financial aid process as their primary point of contact.
Collects all documents needed for the individual financial aid package selected by the student and/or parents.
Makes changes to the students financial aid package throughout their entire program to meet the ever changing needs of the individual student and/or parent.
Presents to all students during the mandatory orientation and graduation meetings.
Conducts exit interviews.
Financial Aid Processing
Awards, packages, and processes all federal, state, and institutional grants, loans, and scholarships.
Reviews and processes all ISIRs.
Collects and processes documents needed to clear any ISIR selected for the random verification review process.
Reviews all ISIR comment codes and collects all documentation needed to process financial aid.
Maintains contact with various lenders and financial institutions as appropriate.
Support Functions
Works collaboratively with Business Services Specialist to reconcile Title IV fund requests monthly.
Works collaboratively with Business Services Specialist to manage the College Work Study program.
Assists with the completion of federal and state reports related to financial aid (FISAP).
Assist with various audits and surveys as related to billing and financial aid.
Prepares forms, files, schedules, reports, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation for internal and external groups including but not limited to the IRS, internal and external auditors, surveyors, UPH Corporate departments, and other College departments.
Assists with College events and represents Trinity College on UPH and College committees as requested.
Qualifications
A. EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Baccalaureate degree required. Additional related certifications preferred. Experience in financial aid services required.
B. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS: Must possess knowledge of financial aid processes, as well as federal and state aid guidelines. Must have excellent information processing skills and be able to manage multiple tasks with efficiency and accuracy. Must possess awareness of transcultural health care values, learning environment, and institutional/program assessment. Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet/ database management required. Must have excellent interpersonal skills since this position works with students and other College personnel on a regular basis.
