POSTION: Per Diem Staff Physician, Family Medicine and Community Health

REPORTS TO: Director, Osher Center for Integrative Medicine

SUMMARY: The Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking an innovative, patient-focused Staff Physician to provide patient care at the Integrative Medicine and Health practice in Miami, FL. The ideal candidate will have excellent skills to support the clinical practice, educational initiatives, and research opportunities. A proven track record of providing care in an Integrative Medicine and Health practice with the ability to manage and expand a diverse clinical practice within an academic medical institution is preferred. This position resides in the Department of Family Medicine and reports directly to the Director of the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide clinical services to assure the highest quality patient centered care.

  • Advance the purpose and principles of integrative medicine in a manner that contributes in meaningful and measurable ways to the reputation of the University of Miami

  • Reviews, establishes, and maintains patient care protocol and standards, ensuring that all federal and State policies, regulations, and guidelines for patient care are met; establishes and coordinates quality improvement, safety, and infection control programs.

  • Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.

  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.

  • Collaborates with other clinical/medical managers in the delivery of quality patient care, maintenance of clinical documentation, integration of electronic health records, and handling of complaints and/or medical emergencies.

  • Build relationships and represent OCIM at the highest level internally and externally, including at academic conferences and community events. This may include giving conference presentations, integrative grand rounds, and other educational presentations and engagements.

  • Create an environment of collaboration throughout the clinical team to successfully implement efficient and effective workflows.

  • Assume responsibility for the creation of an environment that emphasizes inclusion, safety, satisfaction, and respectfulness for all patients and employees.

  • Support the system-wide efforts of the Director and Medical Director of OCIM, including support for cross-site initiatives and projects through the Osher Collaborative. This will require attending meetings and assuming leadership positions within the OCIM Advisory Council, the Osher Collaborative Steering Committees, and the Education and Clinical Working Groups

Patient safety is a top priority. As a result, during the Influenza ("the flu") season (September through April), the University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine requires all employees who provide ongoing services to patients, work in a location (all Hospitals and clinics) where patient care is provided, or work in patient care or clinical care areas, to have an annual influenza vaccination.
