JOB SUMMARY

The Patient Transporter transfers patients to and from various areas of the assigned facilities while providing exceptional customer service. Additionally, the Patient Transporter engages in efforts to improve patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency, and ensures all required policies and procedures are complied with.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Use standard AIDET greetings when greeting patients for Transport. Provide safe transportation for patients throughout the UMHC/Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center using the appropriate transportation equipment. Use the appropriate Personal protective equipment, complying with inflection control practices required for patient transportation. Communicate with the Dispatcher and other team members using departmental communication devices. Transport expired patients to the morgue as needed, following the appropriate procedures. Pick up and deliver medications, medical instruments, lab specimen, etc., to and from facilities on the UM/JMH Medical complex.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent required

Certification and Licensing:

CPR Certification- highly preferred

Experience:

No experience required

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

  • Commitment to the University's core values.

  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

  • Proficiency in computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office).

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle

  • Valid State of Florida driver's license

The Radiology department at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Patient Access Representative. The incumbent would confirm, verify and clear all patients scheduled for an MRI exam. Work also may require the performance of clerical tasks which follow well established procedures and vary considerably by nature of the departmental function. Work with Chief MR Technologist at all location and UHealth Connect scheduling to achieve efficient utilization of MRI volume. Performs others duties as assigns. Minimum Qualifications (Essential Requirements): * High School Graduate or equivalent with specialized training in computer usage in Microsoft office programs. * Three years of patient-related experience in radiology setting including understanding of medical terms for diagnosis and treatment, and knowledge of radiology billing processes. (UChart scheduling and registration application experience preferred) * Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding used for diagnosis and medical treatment. * Strong written and oral communication skills. * Able to work in a team environment and lead/manage others as requested by the Director or Chief Technologist. Patient safety is a top priority. As a result, during the Influenza ("the flu") season (September through April), the University of Miami School of Medicine requires all employees who provide ongoing services to patients, work in a location (all Hospitals and clinics) where patient care is provided, or work in patient care or clinical care areas, to have an annual influenza vaccination. Failure to meet this requirement will result in rescinding or termination of employment.
