Position Summary: Position Summary: Performs routine and some special procedure imaging, diagnostic and medical sonograms.Prepares patient for procedures. Assists Radiologists when needed. Prepares, operates andcares for the equipment being used. Develops/processes films when needed. Adheres toestablished radiology standards of care. Obtains appropriate continuing education. Assumesresponsibility for assigned area and duties. Adheres to hospital wide customer serviceprograms. Performs other duties as assigned such as quality assurance.Exercises professional judgment in performance of procedures. Provides patient care. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following: 1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors 2. Performs all other related duties as assigned 3. Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing differentand special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on imagesand required body part questionnaires 4. Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/ or procedures and produces goodtechnical images 5. Assist physicians during procedures as necessary 6. Performs equipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed, orders supplies 7. Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise inthe department. Will be needed to work on call, holidays, overtime and / or day,evening and overnight shift coverage to help maintain adequate and safe coverage forthe department 8. Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment and accessories. Reports allmalfunctioning equipment to Bio Med and/or supervisor. 9. Processes CDs, or print pictures if needed 10. Performs routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/images, documents information on patientsrequest, Meditech or hospital riss systemand PACs digital x-ray system 11. Notifies transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to floors 12. Shows radiologist all images and calls reports to the attending physician and documentscommunication if necessary 13. May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor 14. Will treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding thehospitals behavioral standards. 15. Will introduce him/her and educate the patient and/or family member regarding theexamination that is ordered. 16. Should be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care, based on age, physical andpsychosocial stature of patient populations; neonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent,adults and geriatric groups 17. Performs all other related duties as assigned 18. Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the department or hospital EducationExperience Requirements: Completion of a certified ultrasound program or Limited Permit/certificate.(ARDMS) eligibility after 1 year from graduation and 1000 clinical hours) forstudents. NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required. ARRT registered (RT) andradiograph ARDMS required for ACR accreditation compliance after January 1, 2019 or ARRT(s) or RT (VS)experience preferred. Must meet continuing education requirements to maintain certification. BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or mustbe completed with 90 days of hire.
