Job Summary

Classification of Ultrasound Technologist or Sr. Ultrasound Technologist will be determined based upon the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Performs ultrasound procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention. Processes images on appropriate archival systems.

Participates in performance improvement activities in the department. Maintains appropriate quality control records and participates in routine equipment testing and maintenance.

Required Qualifications

  • One year UCSF experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer; or equivalent skills and competencies in a similar Ultrasound Department

  • ARDMS credentials in Abdomen and OB/Gyn specialties

  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification

  • Graduate of a formal ultrasound training program in an approved school

  • Flexibility in scheduling, ability to rotate shifts and coverage for weekends and holidays

  • The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent work experience in an acute care setting

  • Vascular and neuro ultrasound experience with accompanying ARDMS credential

  • BCLS Certification

Licensure/Certification

  • ARDMS in Abdominal and OB/GYN Sonography

  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification

Work Environment

  • Keeps working areas neat, orderly and clutter-free, including the hallways. Adheres to cleaning processes and puts things back where they belong. Removes and reports broken equipment and furniture.

  • Picks up and disposes of any litter found throughout entire facility.

  • Posts flyers and posters in designated areas only; does not post on walls, doors or windows.

  • Knows where the Environment of Care Manual is kept in department; corrects or reports unsafe conditions to the appropriate departments.

  • Protects the physical environment and equipment from damage and theft.

The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations is required.
