Summary
Performs all diagnostic US exams according to established policy and procedure for interpretation and subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician. The technologist will be required to rotate between BSMH facilities. Rotating call, shift, weekend coverage, and holiday duty are required for this position. Due to the nature of the services and care provided at this institution, personnel may be requested to serve in related capacities as determined by their qualification in a different unit, department, and campus in an effort to not disrupt patient care and continue to provide a safe environment to our patients.
Essential Job Functions
Performs all diagnostic ultrasound procedures including but not limited to, vascular scans, abdominal scans, ob/gyn scans, pre-op vein mapping, and some surgical procedures. Travels between BSMH facilities and prioritizes exams.
Assists physicians in US procedures ensuring that sterile technique is adhered to. Follows time out procedure. Scans patient, marks body, and determines angle for puncture. Operates imaging equipment in the prescribed manner by setting proper technique, and following protocol.
Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality completeness and type of test ordered; ensures quality images. Completes paperwork timely. Uses PACS to send images for interpretation and storage. Able to print images or burn CD on request.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, and in-service. Maintains continuing education credits to meet licensure requirements.
Transports patients to procedure room; prepares and maintains room. Provides service in a timely manner. Orders and stocks supply. Follows guidelines as established by ARRT, ACR, and ARDMS

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.

ARDMS/ CCI Registered, CPR (BLS)
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Years and Type of Experience:
12 months experience in Ultrasound preferred, clinical experience accepted
