The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for producing quality, diagnostic ultrasound studies ready for Radiologist interpretation.
Perform general and vascular ultrasound exams (abdomen, pelvis, small parts, peripheral vascular, carotid, TCD).
Assist the radiologist in ultrasound-guided procedures (i.e. paracentesis, thoracentesis, biopsy, aspiration).
Demonstrate concern and empathy while performing tests and procedures in a careful, compassionate and respectful manner.
Prepare and position patients and equipment is a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures.
Maintain proactive, effective communication with patient and physicians regarding any and all findings, patient histories and test results as appropriate. Collaborate and confer with all colleagues and members of the healthcare team.
Graduate of an accredited program for Radiographers or Sonographers.
Current Ultrasound Registry - RDMS (Abdomen) and RVT required.
Current Certification in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association.
One year post-graduation hospital experience in an acute care setting as an Ultrasound tech, 2 years preferred.
Live within 30 minutes of the hospital for call-back.
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
