St. Petersburg General Hospital is a Joint Commission accredited full-service 215-bed acute care facility, providing comprehensive emergency, diagnostic, medical, surgical and women's services including labor and delivery, post-partum and nursery.
St Pete General is a designated Blue Distinction Center + for Maternity Care; accredited as a Breast Center with Digital Imaging and Computer Aided Detection; Chest Pain Center; Certified Advanced Primary Stroke and AFib Center; Accredited Cancer Center and a GYN Robotic Surgery Training Epicenter. Other services include The Pelvic Pain and Incontinence Center and The Orthopedic Center for Joint Replacement and Spine Surgery.
St. Pete General is currently accepting applications for an Ultrasound Technologist (aka Sonographer) on a PRN/per diem/as-needed basis in our Ultrasonic Department.
The Ultrasound Tech performs abdominal, pelvic (gynecological & obstetrical) and transvaginal sonograms. Additionally, the Sonographer is proficient at scanning small parts (thyroid, breasts & scrotum) along with ultrasound-guided biopsies, drainage, thoracentesis, paracentesis and aspirations. The Ultrasound Technologist may also assist the Radiologist with special procedures.
Please note start times/shifts may vary through the week and weekend rotation as well as call are required. ARDMS (1 or more modalities) plus willingness to obtain RVT within 6 months if not currently held is necessary. A minimum of 2 years experience as a Sonographer is necessary for consideration.

High school plus some college, business or technical training required
Vascular specialty certification: ARRT (S) or ARDMS (RVT)*
RVT must be obtained within 6 months if not currently held
Strong knowledge base in vasculature and cross-sectional anatomy
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Minimum of 2-4 years experience learning/utilizing ultrasound techniques
