Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine diagnostic ultrasound procedures at a general skill level.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1 Performs all ultrasound techniques and examinations such as, abdominal scans, retroperitoneal scans, obstetric and gynecological scans, small parts and neonatal head scans, vascular scans, and assist with interventional procedures.
2 Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
3 Positions and transfers patients safely and comfortably and explains basic procedure.
4 Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
5 Selects and operates equipment as needed to perform required exams.
6 Maintains equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts outside service for major malfunctions.
7 Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
8 Knowledge and use of digital image storage systems such as PACS.
Associate's Degree required
Registration/license (RDMS) required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
6 - 12 months experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
