Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position (2-3 sentences)
Provides outstanding customer service. Works with the Radiology Manager to implement the business strategies of the imaging departments, directs patient flow, makes employee work assignments, provides daily oversight of technical, support and nursing functions to optimize resources and exceed customer expectations. Performs payroll authorization duties, schedules staff and provide input into annual staff performance evaluations. Coordinates equipment service needs and training of technical staff. Performs Ultrasound as ordered/directed, according to standard practices and procedures; utilizes patient monitoring equipment during procedures; and produces images for interpretation and distribution to patients and physicians
Essential Functions
Follows guidelines as established by ARRT, ACR, ARDMS
Works with the Radiology Manager to implement the business strategies of the imaging departments, directs patient flow, makes associate work assignments, provides daily oversight of technical, support, and nursing functions to optimize resources and exceed customers' expectations
Performs payroll authorization duties, schedules staff and provides input into annual staff performance evaluations
Performs ultrasound exams or procedure studies as needed. Obtains patient history, explains procedures and addresses patient concerns. Operates imaging equipment in the prescribed manner by setting proper technique, equipment controls and protocols. Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness and type of test ordered. Completes paperwork timely. Uses PACS to send images for interpretation and storage
Able to print images or burn CD on request.
In conjunction with the Radiology Manager provides input for annual performance evaluation for staff.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature and in-services. Maintains continuing education credits to meet licensure requirements. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards
Due to the nature of the services and care provided at this institution, personnel may be requested to serve in related capacities as determined by their qualification in a different unit, department, and campus, to not disrupt patient care and continue to provide a safe environment to our patients
Transports patients to procedure room; prepares and maintains room. Provides service in a timely manner. Orders and stocks supply
Demonstrates ability to market/promote services of the facility. Accommodates patients due to changes in schedules and patient or physician requests. Displays a sense of ownership related to customer issues and success of Ultrasound
Required Minimum Education:
Vocational/ Technical Degree
Specialty/Major: Ultrasound
Preferred Education:
2 Year/ Associates Degree
Specialty/Major: Ultrasound
Licensure/Certification Required:
ARDMS/ CCI Registered, CPR (BLS)
Minimum Years and Type of Experience:
5 years Ultrasound experience
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Outstanding customer service skills. Management and leadership skills. Communication skills. Critical thinking/analytical skills. Basic computer skills. Magnet safety. Radiation safety. Supervisory experience
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
Infection control and sterile procedure. Maintains knowledge of MRI, NM, and PET through the reading of professional journals, seminars, and in-services
