SCOPE OF POSITION: Under the general direction and supervision of the Senior US Technologist, the Assistant Director of Radiology, and the Radiologist, performs a variety of Ultrasound exams.
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathological processes pertinent to diagnostic Ultrasound. Knowledge of Ultrasound techniques, tests, and procedures.
Operation knowledge of Ultrasound equipment. Ability to make technical decisions to obtain the most accurate information of diagnosis. Ability to interact and communicate with patients, staff, and hospital personnel.
Knowledge of blood borne pathogen and universal precautions. Ability to lift and pull patients, push stretchers, and able to stand and walk. Graduate of accredited program of Diagnostic Sonography approved by the American College of Radiology.
Certified through the American Society for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) as RDMS (OB or AB), RT(S), RT (VS), RVT, or RVS).# New Graduates must obtain RDMS certification within one year of hire or within 24 months of their graduation date, whichever is less. Must maintain all qualifications from the American College of Radiology accreditation requirements for Ultrasound and/or RT(S) continuing education requirements. Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures. Perform automated functions that fall within job responsibility.
