Overview
Performs diagnostic ultrasonography procedures at a skilled technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.
Responsibilities
Take patient's medical history.
Select and set up appropriate test equipment.
Determine the proper patient positioning and transducer selection to achieve accurate test results.
Take ultrasound scans of patient by recording data, visualizing anatomy, and charting information for diagnostic interpretation of physician. Operate equipment that produces photographs or printout images.
Counsel patients before and after scan regarding the procedure, the results, and the implication of the results of the pregnancy.
Assist physicians with invasive procedures.
Maintain records of patient's visits. Maintain video tape files.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate's Degree Sonography; or successful completion of a Radiological Technology program (or closely related field) and successful completion of a Medical Sonography program.
Must be ARRT eligible. Must be ARDMS certified; or must become certified within the first six months of employment.
Student applicants within three (3) months of graduation/program completion will be considered. Student applicants must meet the minimum requirements of the position as a condition of employment.
