Position Description

This employee operates Mosquito and Vector Control spray equipment while driving at night for the purpose of controlling mosquito populations and preventing mosquito-borne disease transmission; may also be assigned various other duties according to the needs of our organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

ULV Applications

  • Performs appropriate control measures at night to mosquito populations in assigned areas as required

  • Accurately enters data in ULV monitoring systems

  • Monitors environmental and mechanical conditions during insecticidal applications to ensure accurate delivery of material

  • Uses pesticides in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines

  • Records all insecticide usage

  • Performs minor field maintenance on spray equipment

  • Performs daily inspection of vehicles and equipment used in duties to include oil, tires, fuel and other items on the maintenance checklist

Inspections

  • Inspects for mosquitoes or other public health pest problems

  • Conducts population investigations associated with rainfall, tidal or man-made events during periods of high mosquito production

  • Records data collected in the field and enters into the computer appropriately

  • Uses pesticides in accordance with federal, state and local guidelines

  • Assesses mosquito production based on potential developmental habitats and make recommendations for control

Other

  • Performs avian, and/or mosquito surveillance, test and evaluation, and administrative duties

  • Collects hemoglobin from birds, the setting traps for mosquito activity and customer service calls

  • Performs other duties as assigned, including special tasks involved in responding to an emergency event

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; and

  • Must be able to read and comprehend road maps

  • Must be willing to work with control-related chemicals (e.g. insecticides) and comprehend chemical labels

  • Valid driver's license (Texas upon hire) along with a good driving record required for daily vehicle operation

Job Title: ULH Route Planner Job Summary: As our Ultra Long Haul (ULH) Route Planner, you will be responsible for defining, engineering, and resolving network capacity requirements for ultra-long-haul transport network. You will utilize high capacity next generation light wave and wave division multiplexing technologies to meet network services capacity, vulnerability, diversity and growth requirements. Responsibilities: * Performing equipment engineering, developing specifications for installation, turn-up, inventory, and configuration of equipment. * Issuing purchase orders, creating diagrams/drawings, and ensuring vendor delivery. * Providing diversity analysis for internal groups in support of future customer orders, mesh network growth, and converged core data networks. * Monitoring and optimizing ULH network segments. Performing wavelength rearrangements as needed to reduce stranded network capacity. Researching and deactivating unused network systems. * Researching and identifying ULH segments in need of overbuild due to future expiration of fiber/cable/conduit/property leases, network growth, requests for network diversity, and decommissioning of legacy DWDM platforms. * Providing strategic support for Intelligent Edge Network (iEN) expansion. * Coordinating with COE and leased vendors for space/power, leased cable segments. * Coordinating with contracts to acquire leased cables/conduit. Coordinating with OSP to build and splice owned fiber assets. * Coordinating with real estate to acquire properties for building regen shelters as needed to support fiber path. * Forecasting and prioritizing 12+ month forecast of network builds to capital planning and detail multi-year programs for DWDM platform decommissioning. * Supporting Global Transport Network Operations Center by identifying planned maintenance events on leased and owned cable routes as well as providing ad-hoc restoration for priority systems in the event of cable outages. * Coordinating with lease contracts organization, capital planning, engineering, project management, operations/RCAT, and internal management to provide reports to detail project progress and identifying areas where attention is needed to progress projects. Required Skills/Experience: * Bachelor's degree or 4 or more years of relevant work experience.
