What it is
The Underwriting Leadership Development Program (ULDP) is a full-time, four and a half years rotational program designed to develop high-potential underwriting talent into future leaders at Aetna.
What are the goals
The program provides the premier entry point into Aetna's Underwriting career pipeline by providing exposure to key underwriting areas through three, 18-month rotations within segments such as National Accounts, Public and Labor, Territories, Specialty, Medicare and International. Program participants will support the Underwriting segments by performing accurate underwriting analysis and risk assessment for new business and/or renewal of existing customers.
What you will do
Throughout each of the three ULDP rotations the program participants will:
Prepare and deliver new and/or existing business proposals/renewals.
Analyze and make recommendations for plan changes and rate impact based on financial analysis, underwriting principals, and business strategy.
Use rating/financial tools, reference materials, and source systems for premium/fee, membership, and claim information.
Verify contracts/documents to ensure established underwriting guidelines are met.
Assist department on projects or workgroups.
Identify process improvement through automation or process changes and makes recommendations to management when appropriate.
Attend all LDP related training and activities.
What you need
Knowledge of rating and underwriting concepts
Knowledge of or experience in underwriting pricing methodologies and funding arrangements
Demonstrated analytical and independent thinking skills
to demonstrate leadership skills
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Effective communication with internal and external constituents
Adaptability to challenging situations and managing multiple priorities
Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
