Responsibilities:
Tutor graduate and undergraduate students in a variety of writing projects and assist with general academic skill building such as oral presentations and time management (training provided). Writing assistance includes brainstorming topics, developing outlines, formulating/strengthening arguments, helping revise drafts in various stages of development, helping students correctly cite sources and other plagiarism avoidance, cover letter and resume help, personal statements, as well as more in-depth writing projects such as theses, dissertations and research proposals.
Help students develop their independent writing and revision skills (and presentation and time management skills in those cases) and increase their awareness of additional university resources.
Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students' diverse cultures, language skills, and experiences.
Complete administrative tasks, such as writing brief descriptions of each session and emailing a brief summary of daily attendance.
Other opportunities include leading in-class workshops and/or specialized ULC workshops.
Tutoring will be hybrid, with some students requesting in-person sessions.
