OPPORTUNITY
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) established Headquarters Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (HQ SACT) in Norfolk, VA, in 2003 to lead transformation efforts and improve military capabilities to meet 21st century security and defense requirements. The newly established HQ SACT Innovation Lab (iHub), built on the concept of Open Innovation, is providing to its operational customers a catalogue of innovative products and services. The iHub products, also known as Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), are developed following best industry, Agile DevSecOps methods with strong focus on rapid, iterative delivery that meets customers' requirements.

ROLE
The basic job responsibilities are:
Support product teams by following User Center Design best practices in the software industry
Engage with end users through the agile product development process
Establish feedback loops with customers to Build, Measure, and Learn for product development
Conduct heavy research and create mockups of potential features
Provide clarification on designs created so developers understand what a user expects from the story completion
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
University degree in Human Computer Interaction, Information Science, Human Factors, Human Centered Design and Engineering, or related discipline OR 5 years' experience as a UI/UX Designer
UI/UX industry experience working on complex Web and/or mobile application designs
Strong experience in the development of artefacts such as sketches, prototypes, high-fidelity mock-ups, motion design, and project documentation
Proficient in a variety of design and prototyping tools - Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite, Axure, or others
Knowledge and understanding of accessibility standards, interaction and visual design trends and best practices
Knowledge of Section 508 and W3C WCAG 2.0 guidelines
Portfolio of work including; flows, wireframes, and visual designs
Experience working with teams embracing Agile DevSecOps principles
Strong skills with User Centered Design (UCD) methods
Able to work with a balanced team approach sharing context and decisions
Able to work with the Product Manager (PM) to iterate on the backlog
Flexible with dynamic changes to the product
Excellent management, communication, and presentation skills
Experience collaborating with a team of programmers with varying skillsets
Experience working in a rapid and iterative development environment
Fluent in English (written and Oral)
UI Design, UX Design, User Experience Analyst, or Customer-Centered Design Certification
Active National or NATO Secret (or higher) security clearance
