Rooted in Our Credo, the values of DEI fuel our pursuit to create a healthier, more equitable world. At Johnson & Johnson, we all belong.

Are you curious about the next generation of innovative cardiac support - support that is smarter and more connected to our users? Are you fascinated by communicating advanced hemodynamic information to guide life-saving decisions? Do you want to build the future of the cardiac ICU in pursuit of our mission to "Recover Hearts and Save Lives"? If yes, we are definitely looking for you!

At Abiomed, we're building the next generation of advanced mechanical circulatory support - devices that are smarter and more connected with the growing healthcare data ecosystem. We believe that best-in-class devices are defined by the user experiences and interfaces that guide patient care. We believe that our UI/UX designers should be grounded by the unmet clinical needs of these patients and have the creative strength to find, build, and deliver solutions that address those needs.

Our team is focused on expanding the portfolio of advanced patient management tools that make our heart pumps a world-leading innovative device. We need UI/UX designers who can translate these tools to our users with focus, passion, and high standards. This makes our UI/UX designer a critical hire to achieve our mission - someone who is not afraid to own critical goals and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment. If you're up for this mission and willing to do what it takes to meet those goals, this is the place for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop understanding and empathy for our users on how they value and interact with our products and services

  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand unmet clinical needs and provide creative, thoughtful solutions

  • Build concise, user-centric visions and journeys that form bridges between unmet needs and technical solutions

  • Guide planning, scaling, documenting, and execution of Human Factors and UI/UX design activities in alignment with the regulatory and quality teams

  • Own and deliver interactions and designs across multiple platforms (bedside, remote, web, mobile), from wireframes and storyboards to interactive and high-fidelity prototypes

  • Integrate user feedback, user research, and product metrics into all designs to create clear, high-impact experiences that are welcoming and intuitive

  • Develop strategies for new product submissions in accordance with FDA and other regulatory guidance in collaboration with regulatory team partners

  • Contribute to UX vision and strategy, build strong relationships generating buy-in and operationalizing strategy across larger teams and timelines

  • Maintain knowledge on current design trends and standards and how they apply to our products and our patients

  • Experience the products and user groups first-hand by undertaking shadowing visits in clinics and practices, and through training on the devices
