Under minimal supervision from the Executive Director, Gift Accounting, Reporting, and Investment Management, the incumbent has the responsibilities for the majority of the financial and administrative activities of the UC Riverside Foundation, and provides input and advice to management regarding various gift transactions and procedures related to the management of gift and endowment funds. Coordinates Foundation and Regents Endowment fund financial reporting related to the UC Riverside Campus, and provides general analytical support to the Administrative Services unit of University Advancement.

The incumbent also supervises the General Accountant 2. The full salary range for the UCR Senior Foundation Accountant is $64,300 - $114,300 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is $64,300 - $85,000 annually.

We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time.  Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Helps implement and/or maintains one or a combination of general accounting systems.Create and maintain financial spreadsheets and calculations necessary to ensure accurate recording and booking of individual endowments and gift fund balances, interest earnings, expenditures, and realized and unrealized investments.Balances books periodically and prepares financial statements.Provides analysis for complex accounting projects.Prepares journal entries, maintains and/or reconciles ledger accounts.Interprets reports and records for administrators and managers.Ensure the integrity and maintain the process of collection of all gift fees due to Chancellor's discretionary resources per campus policy. Coordinate all transfers of gift fees from the Foundation accounts to Regents accounts with the campus Budget Office and Accounting department.Assist in various liaison functions with internal and external auditors, UCOP Institutional Advancement Office, Office of the Chief Investment Officer, and Corporate Accounting departments regarding all gift and endowment fund accounting, period reporting, and policy issues.

Advise management on Foundation and endowment fund policy issues and serve as the primary contact for campus units for information and advice regarding gift and endowment funds activity.Manage the Foundation's cash flow to maximize the return on liquid assets. Initiate inter-account transfers as appropriate.Provide staff support to the Foundation's Investment Committee and Audit Committee. Assist in the coordination and communications to committee members, and with the Foundation's outside investment consultants, and money managers.Supervise Foundation Accountant providing day-to-day guidance, preparing performance evaluations, and supporting professional growth opportunities.Provides record of assets, liabilities and other financial transactions.Participates in gathering data from the general ledger for the collection of information for Unrelated Business Income Taxes (UBIT), preparing summary schedules, and answering questions from departments or coordinating resolution of issues involving other departments or functions.Assist in coordinating valuations for gifts in kind to ensure that all IRS tax code regulations are adhered to. Handle all property tax maintenance issues for Foundation real estate holdings.

Thorough knowledge of accounting function and assignments.Ability to independently gather, organize and perform accounting related analysis to complete work assignments.Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing.Thorough knowledge of financial transactions and financial systems, as well as related policy, accounting and regulatory compliance requirements.Thorough knowledge of common desktop/web applications.Thorough knowledge of analytical procedures used in accounting projects of moderate to semi-complex scope.Demonstrated progressively responsible accounting experience including financial and statistical analysis using spreadsheets and Windows based software applications.Experience in researching complex technical issues and preparing comprehensive recommendations based on the outcome of the research.Ability to prepare and analyze complex financial reports in a clear, concise, and useful manner.Ability to manage a heavy workload with a variety of projects and assignments, ensuring effective outcome and providing for prioritization of assignments and fluctuating deadlines.Proven ability to respect and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work behavior.Professionalism in all aspects of performance with a commitment to the goals and objectives of University Advancement and to UC Riverside, including principles of community and diversity.Experience with relational databases.Experience with UC Riverside financial systems and UC policy and procedures.

Ability to manage a heavy workload with a variety of projects and assignments, ensuring effective outcome and providing for prioritization of assignments and fluctuating deadlines. Ability to prepare and analyze complex financial reports in a clear, concise, and useful manner.

Demonstrated progressively responsible accounting experience including financial and statistical analysis using spreadsheets and Windows based software applications.
