Position description

The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music's Global Jazz Studies IDP invites applications for a part-time lecturer position in global jazz studies for the Fall quarter of the 2024-25 academic year. Salary commensurate with applicant qualifications and experience; percentage of appointment commensurate with teaching load.

Applicants should have significant experience teaching survey of historical and stylistic development of musical style referred to today as Latin Jazz. Applicants should have advanced expertise in group performance of a diverse mixture of Jazz instruments in Afro-Cuban music, with knowledge of the tradition in terms of performance skills, arrangements, and repertoire. University teaching experience preferred. A bachelor's degree preferred.

Basic qualifications

  • Experience interacting with the jazz music community on various cultural and educational initiatives.
