Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Technician I for the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility, in Yardville, NJ. The Technician I participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the Prison.

  • Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents in electronic medical records (EMR).

  • Assists the physician/associate practitioner with procedures, including preparing the inmate for the examination.

  • Obtains specimen collection and handling, including, but not limited to, drawing blood.

  • Assists with the cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit.

  • Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner. Maintains the supply stock in the examination rooms.

  • Aggregates the orders of all medications and forwards to the pharmacy provider / local pharmacy.

  • Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.

VIEW JOBS 2/2/2023 12:00:00 AM 2023-05-03T00:00 <p>Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a motivated Per Diem Staff Nurse at Garden State Youth Correctional Facility, located in Yardville, NJ.</p><p>Utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus. Works with a variety of health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment. Frequently functions guided by nursing protocols. Functions as a team leader as assigned. Demonstrates competency in assessment and identification of the physical health of adults (18 to 64 years), and geriatrics (65+) all population groups and their personal strengths. Identifies inmate-centered goals and nursing objectives and implements prescribed interventions and solutions for the identified problems.</p><p>Among the key duties of this position are the following:</p><ul><li><p>Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of the inmate- patient including adults (18 to 64 years), and geriatrics (65+) and their family within the framework established by the correctional system.</p></li><li><p>Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships.</p></li><li><p>Uses current knowledge to promote a safe environment for providing health care to inmate-patients.</p></li><li><p>Attends appropriate in-services and continuing education offerings to obtain and maintain necessary skills.</p></li><li><p>Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for the nursing personnel of the health care unit and assumes responsibility for his/her continuing education and professional development and contributes to the professional growth of co-workers.</p></li></ul> Rutgers University New Brunswick NJ
