Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a full-time Physician Specialist I for the South Woods State Correctional Facility, located in Bridgeton, New Jersey. Under the direction of the Medical and Health Services Director, the Physician Specialist I is responsible for providing medical services to inmates of the Department of Corrections, which are consistent with community standards of care. This position serves as a liaison for clinical matters with medical providers outside of the system and be available to provide on-call services.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Serves as the Medical Director of the site and supervises other Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners at

the site.

  • Reports to the assigned state prison at designated hour to examine referred patients.

  • Provides emergency care, routine medical care, preventive medical care and education to patients.

  • Assures implementation and ongoing status of on-site chronic clinics.

  • Refers patients to appropriate Physician consults.

  • Prescribes medications from the formulary for the inmate's healthcare needs.

VIEW JOBS 10/4/2021 12:00:00 AM 2022-01-02T00:00 Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Forensic Mental Health Clinician for the South Woods State Prison facility located in Bridgeton, New Jersey.  Reporting to the Clinician Supervisor, the Forensic Mental Health Clinician completes specialized psychological testing and assessment of clinical needs of adult inmates sentenced to the Department of Corrections. Among the key duties for this position are the following: * Arrives at DSM IV diagnoses with precision and accuracy through psychological testing and evaluation sessions. * Provides crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy and psycho-education programming as clinically indicated to assigned inmates. * Involves inmates and Department of Corrections staff in developing achievable and understandable psychosocial treatment plans. * Advocates for appropriate resources for inmates based on assessed needs. * Manages caseload demands effectively while considering both qualities of care and the security needs of the Department of Corrections. * Assumes overall case management responsibilities for assigned inmates including coordination of treatment and liaison with community agencies; maintains appropriate inmate records. * Demonstrates competency in psychological testing and in recognizing the unique needs and behaviors of adult inmates and seniors.
